This picture is from Easter but ....is so cute!!!! Today i pickled the red onions and it was enough to can 3 jars .I will put the recipe on if its good after they sit a week we will try them. We still have not named our new dog . One of our 8 baby chicks living in the basement is sick (frizzle) Jason bought him meds and today it seems like he might live!!!! When i asked jason if he was done buying chicks for the year he told me to check on the calender (also chickens) and there was 3 more dates sooooo wow!!! I took "button" to my work today and he barked at anyone who walked by ( he has not barked until this moment) so i hope he does not become some insane barking dog when he feels more at home.

New family member!!!!

This is our new dog !!!  We haven't named him yet ....but we love him!!! Hollywood and Ruby seem to like him as well... he had his back leg removed about 3 days ago but he acts as if he has never had one. Jason wants to name him Cholo but i am not feeling it. (his name was "Button"). I made a new beet salad tonight and even Jason liked it ! Crazy!  I steamed the beets 45 min (rubbed skins off) Cooled in fridge tossed Beets in olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt pepper added Goat cheese and a few crushed Pistachio 's . Tomorrow i am going to pickle Red Onions !!! I sat around last night and wrote out 5 crazy sounding jamish (preserve ) recipes and am making a serious plan of attack for my canning this year.

we ate the best korean food by our house today ( 14 food carts just moved in) we went to humane society just to look......and put in adoption papers on the cutest little dog named button who just had his back leg removed. ruby could have a new best friend !! we find out by 1 pm tomorrow......we spent the rest of the day gardening and jason got his chainsaw back so now we have fire wood for next winter! it is totally crappy here but we are pretending its summer.

Sauvie island farms reopened for the year this last weekend and i am planning out my canning for the summer. I would love to pickle as much as possible this year . I am looking for unique jams and lots of pickled things!!!! Any pickled things (we have 4 month old lemons in the fridge that have been soaking in salt) now i need a recipe to add back a mellow flavor. we got a few yards of fresh dirt (compost) a few weeks ago and ruby wanted to be in every wheelbarrow full of dirt. I am excited this year for the garden i know what will work out in places that last year did not ......except our new garage (that is the same size as our house ) is going to take away tons of my sun during the day ....but the chickens will love the shade (if i don't kill them first for eating my plants) I just boiled beets tonight for my first pickling of the year .

She has blue eyes and is the love of our lives!!!
